Star Wars: Rebel Assault was the first CD ROM-only game published by Lucasarts, set in the Star Wars universe. It was released for the PC as well as for the Sega CD.

Although the scenario, the plot, and the variety of missions were considered neither original or rich, the game was valued for the technical details, since it featured digitized footage and music from the original movies, full speech and high quality 3-D rendered graphics.

The game consisted mainly of recreating famous scenes from the movies, rather than being accurate to the Star Wars storyline: it follows the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, but erroneously includes elements from the Battle of Hoth.

I've only ever played the demo for this game but I did love it. You got to be Rookie one a guy or a gal and blow up tiny ties

Awesome game, and also one of the hardest games ever put out by Lucas arts. You'll become an adult playing this one. Trully addicting gameplay with some pretty crazy difficulty especially the asteroid field that was TOUGH. I love this game so much because it really challenges the player and should be the mold for which SW aerial games should all follow. This game to me was like Starfox, SW style which is the best of both worlds because I was and still am a big Starfox fan. It's a shame the same can't be said about the beat in 15 mins sequel.
