Does anyone remember the Star Wars holiday special? I just heard about it from a friend and we downloaded it via Limewire. Needless to say the special was complete garbage but I did find an article on it anf here it is for anyone interested...

"Perhaps one of the best hidden secrets of the Star Wars universe, this awful made-for-tv special is a 2-hour variety show take on Star Wars centered around the wookie holiday of Life Day. Chewie is trying to get home, with the help of Han Solo, but Darth Vader and the Imperials are making it awfully difficult to get to Kashyyyk.

Meanwhile, in Chewbacca's treehouse home on Kashyyyk, Chewie's wife Malla was working in the kitchen while his father Itchy carved an X-Wing Fighter toy for little Lumpy. Lumpy came downstairs, flying another X-Wing toy around and around his grandfather's head and making noises as he went. Finally Itchy became annoyed and barked sharply at Lumpy, causing him to stop in his tracks.

This wookie-filled special continues on in this manner, and showcases many famous people, including Bea Arthur as a cantina owner singing, Harvery Korman, Diahann Carroll as Mermeia, and Jefferson Starship.

To top if off, at the end, when Chewie and Han finally arrive, Carrie Fisher treats us to her singing about Life Day, which is set to the Star Wars main theme.

One finds it unbearable to sit through this two hour romp through Star Wars as if Sunny and Cher were around, but this is something of almost mythological proportions that every Star Wars fan should see at least once, if only because George Lucas was once quoted as wanting to build a time machine and smash every last copy of this."

Writing and teaching are fun; learning is life.

Its absolutely horrible. For about 15 minutes of the show it's just Chewbacca's family talking to eachother...but there are no subtitles.

I want to see it, it sounds so horrible that it must be fun!
Don't think I'll get the chance though. I doubt it will ever be sent on TV again...

The same thing is with this Ewok movies. I once saw them on TV, but had to switch off after 5 minutes.
I think it's useless, that GL made such movies.
