The Empire fell mostly because the Rebellion was using hit-and-fade tactics. Direct military confrontation with the Empire would be a difficult and foolhardy venture, even for the Vong. If the Vong were smart about it, though, they could defeat the Empire like the Rebellion did, but quicker since they have more resources. But, i'm not entirely sure.

The rebellion was successful because Emperor Palpatine thought he was invincible and wanted to witness the end of the rebellion himself...oops.

That was at the end of the war. I'm talking about the long-term military tactics employed by the Rebellion over the years. Guerilla tactics are highly effective if you don't have much money/supplies/weapons/etc. Just take a look at our own Earth history. Fidel Castro is a good example.

Well I think that the Vong used guerilla tactics, at least at the begining, however I still think that Palpy would have destroyed them with much swiftness.

I think the vong would have posed a threat to the empire, but not a big threat, and the empire would have beaten them with little loss

First, let's remember that the Vong have been spying the Repbulic for years before they came into the galaxy and reeked havoc on everyone. If the rebellion never took place or failed at Endor, the Vong would still spy on the Empire.
Second, I think the Vong would still attack. The Empire probably would win, but at a higher cost than the Republic. Paply was too overconfident in his abilities and would eventually would get himself destroyed by the Vong. The Vong would have known about the Death Star and delt with that threat right away. The Empire would throw much of their fleet at the Vong without knowing what the Vong can do and would loose the fleet. That would give the Vong the opportunity to reach further into the galaxy and get their strength back and up.

I think the Empire would loose against the Vong.

i agree with JK that the vong probably would have been destroyed, even with if the vong attacked first.

i do not think so,even though the empire would have won,it would not be without losses,the Yuzzan Vong were devastating
