The Executor
Well first lets examine the size of the command tower. Easily larger than standard lSDs, the dreadnought however does not have its command tower grow exponentially in size compared to the ships body - when compared to lSDs. Though larger and bulkier, it does not seem so, due to the nature of the dreadnoughts sprawling superstructure in comparison to lSDs. However, make no mistake, even a normal and unshielded lSD bridge deck can survive an A-Wing collision, nevermind the entire command tower or the Executors....What happen to the latter was just a freak fluke.
When a sublight A-Wing undoubtedly travelling at full sublight throttle slams into a ninety degree perpendicular surface, one can expect disastrous results. For sure, especially because the bridge screen is transparisteel, not durasteel, an alloy more useful for its visual properties and for sealing the bridge. So, the A-Wing immediately ploughs the the screen and smashes around, finally detonating into a mess when reaching bulkhead walls. When looking at the bridge deck from within, you see it is quite spacious so the fiery A-Wing could have bounced around as a fireball for sometime before meeting a wall and blasting itself apart. This is where the losses and devastation comes from, keep in mind that when the A-Wing finally explodes, it sets off its concussion missile launchers too - the little ship is actually a nasty bugger. With the bridge bereft of life temporarily, inhospitable and hard to control because of space pressures, and with rampant fires here and there - siezing the ship and placing it into operational status could have taken quite sometime. Time the large ship did not have in the heat of battle, and in its proximity. The ship must have luckily had control interfaces jammed or set in the collision, and with no tech to reset them or halt the ships course, it simply veered into the large stations emitted gravity. Simple as that, really.
As l said before, it is rightfully important for me to say so again, a fluke. An appreciated one, undoubtedly.
