Default "It's over Anakin....I have the HIGH ground..."

Am I the only one that finds this line VERY ironic?....think about it....the move that Anakin tries to pull off on Obi-Wan (and ultimately loses his limbs because of) is almost the EXACT same move that Obi-Wan uses to kill Darth Maul in TPM....Do u think Lucas intended to put that in there....and if so why does Obi-Wan execute it without losing ne body parts...is it because he doesn't attack in anger....or because Maul wasn't expecting it?....and if so...was Obi-Wan expecting Anakin to use it on him.....Am I making too big of a deal about this lol?

Default High Ground

This topic has been debated before, countless times too; in other threads....Interesting take though, comparing it to what happened to Darth Maul. I never thought of the two, but they are apparently very much alike. Nice job, 1317. Ironic would be right, and I do not see why Kenobi would bring it up given his own experience. Though he would probably have experience in dealing with the maneuver, given his style and what he went through when he did it a 15 odd years ago. Kenobi though was on the 'ropes' while Anakin still had options that would avoid himself getting diced up.

It is interesting. Never realized it myself.
Maul probably wasn't expecting a padawan to do that. Plus, Ben expected Anakin to do that. He prepared and tried to talk him out of it.

Well, seeing as there were brothers, Obi-Wan was probably expecting Anakin to do that. Where as Maul didn't know Obi-Wan for that long, however for a Sith Lord he should have guessed as to what Obi-Wan was going to do.

I meant he underestimated a padawan.

that is the thing, Maul didn't know that Obi was capable of jumping like that by just using his hands, while Obi-Wan knew that anakin had the capabilities of doing that. what i am getting at is that Maul was too proud of himself to know that Obi wan still had a chance. Obi on the other hand never got cocky when fighting anakin.

Ah, but you are wrong. He didn't use his hands. He used the force. It wasn't Maul's pride that got in the way. It was his arrogance, and how badly he underestimated Obi-Wan. As you said before.

Agreed/ Maul under-estimated the padawan Obi-Wan.

When it came to the battle against Anakin i believe that Obi Wan was a superb defensive fighter, as soon as he took the high ground he had won.
